Researchers from New York say that this repetition causes couples to become stale roommates in the relationship. Instead, couples are encouraged to "reinvent date night". They have discovered true science behind the notion...indicating that the intoxication from creating or doing new things together recreates the love that made you fall in love.
"The theory is based on brain science. New experiences activate the brain’s reward system, flooding it with dopamine and norepinephrine. These are the same brain circuits that are ignited in early romantic love, a time of exhilaration and obsessive thoughts about a new partner."
Recently, my husband and I had a friend give us last minute tickets to the theater. We loved the generous offer, so we took a seat. We had a great time discussing the play afterwards. Somehow all that talk was an aphrodisiac! Who knew!? Or was it the science behind it all, breaking up the monotony?
So what are you waiting for? Get some scuba diving lessons, go horseback riding, or pick a book and share it at a park over some treats.
